Nearly 350 Northern Railway employees on CBI radar

Nearly 350 Northern Railway employees offered jobs during year 2004 to  2009 when Laloo Persad Yadav was union railways minister in the country their records while working in this  period are being checked. Aat present ll such employees are on CBI radar and their record while working for five years are being checked suspecting that such employees were offered jobs in railways against the land gifted by them. Information reveals that the power for employment opportunities in railways were under the charge of General Manager, Railways were discontinued and taken over by the Union Railway Minister Laloo Persad Yadav himself or his wife Rabri Devi, as such CBI presently handling the case thoroughly now checking records of all employees offered jobs in in railways during his period without appearing in examination or holding an interview by then Union Railways Minister or his wife. During May 2022 a case was registered against both Laloo Persad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi presently undergoing investigation by the CBI which had prepared a list of about 350 employees working in five Divisional offices in Northern Railways.

CBI investigation reveals that those belonging to Patna were initially offered jobs in railways at Kolkata, Mumbai, Jaipur, Jabalpur and Jammu-Kashmir state for an eyewash and later were transferred to their desired divisions. Information also reveals that a large number of officers in senior ranks or junior level posts were offered appointment in railways directly without appearing in examination or an interview.   Prior to the case was referred to CBI investigation, railway vigilance department also investigated the case thoroughly and observed large number of embezzlements and irregularities in railway recruitments including junior level posts for trackman, cabin man, security guard, technicians, cooks, safai karamchari and porters which were offered on the recommendation of Lalu Persad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi as observed during railways vigilance and CBI investiigaion.
