Nearly 45 ‘dhaba’ at Murthal facing demolishing threat in Haryana

Murthal in Sonipat district is famous for large number of five star ‘dhaba’ in the country, where residents of nearby Delhi as well as from adjoining other towns visit frequently to enjoy delicious foods. According to information, the owners of 63 ‘dhaba’ on the National Highway No. 1 received demolishing notices from the municipal corporation to submit documents as regard land CLU, approval of site plan of building and permission from government for the operation of ‘dhaba’.

According to a official spokesperson of municipal authorities, most of illegally constructed ‘dhaba’ are now running in five star buildings without seeking permission from the government, without having site plan of their huge buildings approved from concerned department and not only this the owners of these ‘dhaba’ has encroached huge green belt area around ‘dhaba’ used for parking visitors’ vehicles as well as built stalls rented out to others, which is violation of Section 350 Rule 1994 of Municipal Act.The owners of these ‘dhaba’ were directed to produce documents as regard CLU, approval of building site plan, permission sought for running ‘dhaba’ and few of these also functioning like a hotel having rooms for night stay within seven days to avoid action against them. However, owners of only 18 ‘dhaba’ bothered to reply and submitted documents available with them which have yet to be verified by the municipal authorities. However, the owners of as many as 45 ‘dhaba’ have now been served final  notices to submit required documents by 11th January 2023, failing which their ‘dhaba’ structures will be demolished with bulldozers at their cost without any further notice in this regard. Information reveals, the owners of these ‘Dhaba’ are now running to Chandigarh demanding to roll back the decision in this regard to save them having both ends meal as well as save employment of large number of staff working in these ‘dhaba’.
