New Delhi : The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has mobilized a large-scale protest, named Chhattra Sansad Gherav, at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Thousands of NSUI members and NEET students participated in this protest, demonstrating their solidarity and determination to address the alleged NEET scam and hold the National Testing Agency (NTA) accountable.
NSUI National President Varun Choudhary while addressing the gathered NEET aspirants and supporters said,
“We demand that Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan take immediate action to address the injustices of the NEET examination. Specifically, we call for the conduction of RENEET (Re-conduct NEET) and the dissolution of the NTA (NTABAN) to ensure transparency and fairness in the examination process. If our demands are not met promptly, NSUI is prepared to escalate our protests on a national scale. We will fight for NEET students all over India under the leadership of our leader Rahul Gandhi Ji.”
He further remarked, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, before the election, had a discussion with students and promised to address their concerns. However, after the election, he has been avoiding student issues. This negligence towards the student community must end.”
Following the initial protest, NSUI members and NEET students marched towards Parliament. After crossing the barricades, a lathi charge ensued, and many NSUI members, including Varun Choudhary, were detained by the police.
Key Demands of NSUI
1. **RENEET:** A re-examination to ensure that all candidates have a fair opportunity, free from the irregularities reported.
2. **NTABAN:** The dismantling of the NTA and establishment of a more transparent and accountable body for conducting examinations.
This protest marks a significant step in the fight for educational justice, as students from across the nation have gathered to voice their concerns and demand corrective measures. The NSUI is committed to standing by the students and ensuring that their voices are heard.
