Ambala: Haryana’s Home and Health Minister. Anil Vij while talking to media persons here said that a new freight terminal (goods warehouse) will be set up in Ambala for freight transportation. Due to the locational advantage of Ambala, it will be very easy for traders of nearby states to send or order products to any corner of the country.. In this regard,. Vij held a meeting with Ambala DC Dr. Shaleen and other officers at his camp office in Ambala today and discussed about the project. He said that with the construction of freight terminal, traders of Ambala as well as traders of nearby Yamuna Nagar, Patiala, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh and other states would be benefited. There is a plan to build a new freight terminal on the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor and this terminal will be set up near Ambala Cantonment on the Ambala-Saharanpur line. The Home Minister discussed with DC Ambala regarding the availability of land for the terminal and action will be taken by the Haryana State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) regarding the availability of land for the termina Home Minister Anil Vij said that the construction of freight terminal will give a big boost to business in Ambala. Vij said, till now traders used to send their products and other goods to other states by road, but through freight terminal, the products can be sent to every corner of the country at cheaper rates and faster. The process is underway to construct a terminal at Ambala, he added.
A joint meeting of officials of District Administration, Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL), Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) and other departments was also held on Wednesday regarding terminal construction on Dedicated Freight Corridor. In the meeting, discussions regarding the selection of the site, construction of the terminal, facilities and other aspects were held. It may be noted that the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor is being laid for speedy movement of goods through goods trains. This separate rail line is being laid for goods trains, which will start soon. There is a plan to set up a freight terminal on this rail line in Ambala. Due to the locational advantage of Ambala, the terminal is considered suitable here. It will be very easy to reach and take goods from different districts of the state including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh.
