KARNAL (SATISH HANDA): According to National Investigation Agency (NIA), nearly 100 cases of fake passport prepared in past four years have been identified in Haryana and Punjab states during verification of all passports prepared in this period. Information reveals, most of the passport holders involved in criminal activities are suspected left country after committing crimes in past sometime. During verification of passports prepared in past four years maximum numbers of these were prepared at Karnal in Haryana state and police verification of applicants in most of the cases was alleged conducted by sector 32-33 police station.
As many as 32 accused involved in fake passport cases have been arrested so far by the police and involvement of two police personnel in fake verification is suspected in-spite of the fact the town have two senior police officers in the ranks of IGP and SP and action against both police personnel is in process. Investigation by CIA and Detective Staff of police revealed that most of the fake passport holders were originally hailing from the states of Haryana, Punjab, Bengal and Kerala states but their passports were prepared on fake names as well as having fake Karnal addresses and during investigation it was observed that no one was staying at these places.
According to police information, maximum numbers of fake passport were got prepared by as many as 10 accused arrested by the police which include Puneet alias Rohit Sagar alias Romi a resident of Gurdaspur district in Punjab having 27 criminal cases registered against him in different police stations in Punjab and two among arrested accused are suspected having contacts with terrorists and both were brought to Karnal by Haryana police on production warrant. Among other prominent arrested accused involved in fake passport scams include Pawandeep alias Titu resident of Gurdaspur in Punjab having five cases registered against him in different police stations in Punjab allegedly under arms act, attempt to murder and snatching cases.
Similarly, Harjeet Singh alias Jiti Pehlwan resident of Hoshiarpur in Punjab is also having five cases registered against him in different police stations in Punjab. Kapil a resident of Kaithal district in Haryana was arrested having four criminal cases registered against him two each at Kaithal and Kurukshetra police stations. Gurmeet Singh alias Budhu resident of Jalandhar district in Punjab have five criminal cases registered against him allegedly involved in murder, attempt to murder, arms act and other serious cases. Balraj Aulakh alias Raju resident of Jalandhar is involved in six criminal cases registered against him in different police stations in Punjab. Ranjit Singh a resident of Moga was found involved in 11 cheating and human smuggling cases registered against him in different police stations in Punjab. Jora Singh resident of Patiala have three cases registered against him in police stations in Punjab under NDPS Act. Giriraj alias Raj resident of Hazara inJalandhar district have four cases registered against him in different police stations in the area.
