‘One District One Brand’ project in 22 Haryana districts: Dushyant Chautala

State government Haryana has introduced a project ‘One District One Brand’ in all 22 districts in the state for which government in the centre has already granted approval, Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala also holding the charge of industry in the state while addressing media persons at Chandigarh said, under this scheme state government Haryana will set up agro-based industry manufacturing essential commodity products in districts to consume crops, fruits and vegetables produced in the area, besides developing dairy farming and poultry farming sectors in the state with the joint assistance of state agriculture, horticulture and industry department which will help not only to increase sources of earnings as well as employment opportunities for residents in the state. Chautala said, state government will also extend financial as well as technical assistance to entrepreneurs in every district in the state.

Chautala said, every district in the state will have identification as a brand according to agriculture, horticulture production in the district to ensure that production of agriculture crops, fruits and vegetables in the district is consumed within the district. According to information, Ambala district is popular for production of onion and Panipat popular for production of carrot. Districts including Rohtak, Faridabad and Charkhi Dadri are popular for production of cucumber. Karnal district is popular for growth of green vegetables. Kurukshetra is popular for the cultivation of potato crop, whereas Nuh (Mewat) and Palwal districts are known for the production of tomatoes. Panchkula district in the state is popular for production of ginger, Rewari district known for cultivation of mustard, Sonepat popular for cultivation of peas and ‘Amla’ is produced  in Gurugram district.

As regard production of fruits, Sirsa district is known for production of ‘keenu’ whereas districts of Bhiwani, Mohindergarh and Fatehabad in the state are known for the growth of lemon and orange. Rohtak district is popular for production of water melon and pumpkin, Jhajjar district known for production of guava and Yamunanagar district popular for producing mangoes in the state.

Dushyant Chautala said, state government has decided to expand dairy farming and poultry farming sectors in the state to have increased sources of self employment opportunities and investment in the state. He said, decision has been taken to develop Hisar and Kaithal districts in the state for dairy farming and set up manufacturing units to produce milk products, whereas Jind district will be developed in the field of poultry farming, besides hundreds of poultry farms exist at Barwala-Raipur Rani in Panchkula district.
