One drug smuggler killed in Police encounter near the Kaiorn village of Tarn Taran

Amritsar, August 12 – Tarn Taran police shot dead a drug smuggler near the Indo-Pak Border village Kairon of Tarn Taran district here today.

According to police, a Car being driven by drug smugglers was intercepted on the tip off at village Kairon but when car occupants  saw the presence of heavy police force they sped away their car while doing  indiscriminate firing at police. Punjab Police troops in self-defense also opened gun fire wherein one car occupant was shot dead.

Police sources  said that there was specific information with police that some smugglers were smuggling heroin from Pakistan and their moments were being noticed in the past two days. Keeping in view all such developments,  a heavy police force was deployed on a particular route between Patti and Kaiorn villages where the car of smugglers was intercepted and an encounter took place.

Police said that the dead smuggler was identified as Jora Singh resident of Kot Isa Khan of Moga district who was found dead in the Hyundai car.

On being contacted SSP Tarn Taran  Mr. Gurmeet Chauhan to know about the fate of another car occupant and the recovery made in the car but he didn’t respond to the call.
