Information reveals, Haryana state has the fourth highest rate of unemployment in the country as per the latest Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. Information also reveals that there was an unemployment rate of 9% for year 2021-22, which was higher than the neighbouring states including Uttar Pradesh recorded 3.9%, Himachal Pradesh recorded 4.0%, Rajasthan recorded 4.7%, Punjab recording 6.4% as against the national unemployment rate of 4.1%.
However, according to central government data the Haryana state recorded 9% unemployment during the year 2021-22, whereas the opposition, especially Congress leaders claimed the unemployment rate in Haryana state as 30% and sometimes as 36% misguiding people in the state. Senior Congress leader and also the former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda highlighted the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE)’s report in January this year that put the State’s unemployment rate at 37.4%, the highest in the country. Hooda said while there was maximum unemployment in the State in-spite of the fact nearly two lakh government posts are lying vacant.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal’s media adviser Amit Arya, however, said while the PLFS figures were not entirely correct, also disproved the CMIE data. Unemployment rate in the State was around 6% as per data based on Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) scheme, he maintained. Arya said, according to PPP data there are 8,17,072 unemployed persons between age 18 to 60 in the state, whereas total population of persons in this age group in the state has been identified as 1 crore 41 lakh and 18 thousand.which comes to nearly 6%. He further added that on the portal of the employment department in the state 8,71,000 unemployed persons seeking jobs have got themselves registered, which is also nearly 6%.
Amit Arya surprisingly said, according to the figure stated by the government in the centre there are nearly 9% unemployed persons in Haryana state, whereas Congress making baseless statements at a time identifying as 30% and at the same time as 36% to misguide people. According to a government spokesperson the ruling government in the staat has provided government employment to 41217 persons between 2014 to 2023 and still continued in the process to fill up another 60,000 government jobs by the end of this year. He disclosed that Congress when ruling in Haryana state for a decade had filled up only 86,067 vacencies between 2005 to 2014.
Amit Arya told media persons that in the private sector, with effect from 2014 till date more than 12 lakh youths have been able to get jobs in the state industry. He said that 16 lakh 85000 persons have been able to get jobs under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yozna, 38000 youths have been able to get employment under Pradhan Mantri Sawnidhi Scheme, 1,71,000 youths have been able to get employment under Sakhsham Yuva Yozna and 78000 youths got employment under Sakhsham Sarthi Yozna, 34000 youths were employed in Rozgar Fairs, 27000 unemployed youths were offered employment in various other schemes and more than 33 lakh youths were able to get jobs in private sector.
