Ambala: During the year 2023, over 22469 suspected cancer patients arrived from different districts in Haryana state as well as from the neighboring states Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal and U.P have been treated at the Atal Cancer Care Centre Ambala Cantt, While talking to Dr Yash Pal Verma Director of the hospital, he said that 1450 patients suffering from this disease were admitted in the hospital, besides the hospital conducted 3349 Kemo-therapies, 562 patients were given Radiation treatment, 200 patients were provided braki-therapy treatment, 577 females suffering from breast cancer were treated by Mammography , 391 patients were treated by Endoscopy and surgery was performed in case of 1200 patients suffering from cancer disease which included nearly 700 major and 500 minor surgeries performed to the suffering patients.
Dr Yash Pal said that this centre is well equipped with ultra modern hi-tech equipment including Linear Accelerator, Barki-therapy Unit and CT Simulator providing free treatment to the patients proved a ray of hope for the patients suffering from different types of the disease usually include mouth, neck, lungs cancer in men and breast, cervical and uterus cancer in women. He said that general cancer develops in the body due to changing lifestyle, too much smoking, consumption of excessive liquor,bad food habits and lack of exercise. As per India Council of Medical Research Report (ICMR) and National Centre for Disease Informatics & Research Report (NCDIR), out of total number of 22469 suspected patients attended OPD at the hospital, 53 patients were in the age group between one to 14 years, 1313 suspected patients of age between 15 to 35 years, 12205 suspected patients of age between 35 to 40 and 9000 visitors of age above 60 years. Dr Yash Pal said that data along with the complete history related to disease of as many as 845 cancer patients having/ had treatment at this hospital has been uploaded on-line enabling patients living at distant places may get treatment available nearby the place they reside.
According to information, cancer treatment is also available in Haryana at Jhajjar and PGI Rohtak also. Dr S.S. Lohchab Direcir PGI Rohtak said that during year 2023 nearly 7000 suspected cancer patients had attended OPD during year 2023, of them nearly 25% female patients were detected suffering from Breast Cancer, nearly 25% female patients suffering from uterus cancer and the remaining patients were found suffering from mouth, prostate and cancer in different part of body. He disclosed that patients in the state suffering from cancer visited PGI Rohtak for the treatment during previous year included 553 from Rohtak, 316 from Jind, 193 from Bhiwani, 270 from Jhajjar, 176 from Panipat, 135 from Hisar, 92 from Karnal and 73 from Kaithal districts.
