Over 42.83 lakh MT paddy arrives in Haryana mandis

CHANDIGARH: More than 42.83 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy has arrived in the grain markets of Haryana as against 34.24 lakh MT in the year ago period.

Out of the total arrival, more than 42.25 lakh MT of paddy is leviable.

The government procurement agencies have procured about 42 lakh MT of paddy and 83,790 MT has been procured by millers and dealers, an official release said here today. About 10.30 lakh MT paddy has arrived in ‘mandis’ of Kurukshetra, 9.20 lakh MT in Karnal and over 6.29 lakh MT in Ambala. Over18.45 lakh MT of paddy has been purchased by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, more than 14.27 lakh MT by HAFED, it said. Another 4.96 lakh MT was purchased by the Haryana Agro-industries Corporation, 4.10 lakh MT by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 20,166 MT by Food Corporation of India, it added.—PTI
