Over 45000 migrant labourers apply for shifting to home towns in a day

In view of present  lock down due to epidemic outbreak when most of industrial units and trade organizations in the state are closed down and workers are forced to stay in shelter homes, more than 45000 migrant labourers in Haryana state mostly hailing from U.P, Bihar, Rajasthan, M.P, Jharkhand and Punjab has got themselves registered on ‘E. Disha’ portal on the very first day wanting to leave for their native towns in spite of the fact most of them are residing in Haryana state since past many years not only having ration card, voters card but also constructed their own houses, their children are having education or employed in the state. According to experts, if situation remains same for some time, industry, agriculture as well as construction sectors in the state would be adversely affected due to acute shortsge of labour in the state in future.

According to directions by the government in the centre, Haryana state government has started sending migrant labourers willing to shift to their natives towns. Recently, Haryana state government made arrangements to shift nearly 12000 labourers in the state to their native places originally hailing from U.P as desired by them in Haryana Roadways buses, whereas prior to this on March 28, 2020 thousands of migrant labourers from U.P  were sent to their home towns in 700 Haryana Roadway buses. Information reveals, those migrant labourers arrived from different states across the country presently working in Haryana state are now willing to return to their native places got themselves registered would be sent to their native places in Haryana Roadways buses in neighbouring states whereas those hailing from  distant states would be sent to their natives places in special trains and a statewise report is under process being forwarded ro railways.

Meanwhile, Additional Chief Secretary  Home Department Haryana  Vijay Wardhan has made an appeal to all migrant labourers from originally hailing from other states presently staying in Haryana not to leave since arrangements are being made to send them to their native towns by the government. He told that T. L. Satyaparkash has been appointed State Nodal Officer for implementation in this regard with other state governments in association with  Anurag Rustogi to superwise shifting of migrant labourers hailing from U.P, Uttarkahnd, Delhi and Punjab, Ajay Singh Tomar would control shifting of migrant labourers hailing from Rajasthan  and Mohd. Shoheen would control shifting of migrant labourers hailing from Kerala and Tamilnadu
