Over 6 lakh acre area in 1385 Haryana villages worst affected due to flood water, over 26 lost lives

With the entry of flood water due to rain and overflowing rivers as many as 1385 villages in the state have been adversely affected due to rain and overflowing rivers Ghaggar, Yamuna, Tangri, Begna, Markanda and Saraswati played havoc in eight districts on or near G.T. Road belt along with Fatehabad, Sirsa and Palwal districts in the state due to embarnment bleached at various places ,identified as four places each in Fatehabad and Sirsa districts. However, water level in rivers has started receding in the GT belt but at the same time now the problem has started increasing in western and southern Haryana as a result the contact of Jakhal town and 8 surrounding villages was cut off. Seeing the water coming, the farmers broke the road at three places since crop sin nearly 500 acres were submerged in Sirsa district. However, water level in rivers has started receding in districts Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal but started wreaking havoc in Sirsa and Fatehabad in western Haryana when  in  few hours 403 more villages of Haryana state came under the grip of flood, of these 100 villages were cut off from the district headquarters due to washed away and damaged roads.

According to state government information, so far 1385 villages have come under the grip of flood. in which more than 26 persons lost lives when drowned in overflowing water in rivers. Apart from this 16 cases of snake bite, 1247 cases of skin diseases, 4850 persons found suffering from different diseases visited civil hospitals and 703  health centres set up by the state government in flood affected areas due to polluted water Information reveals that a total 1,60,695 hectare area has been completely immersed in rain and river water damaging standing crops, 133 houses were collapsed and another 184 houses suffered severe damages, nearly 5000 cars has been sent to workshops damaged due to water. According to the  government information, crops in 11,172 hectare area in seven Haryana districts on or near GT Road belt have been completely washed away or destroyed due to water as on 20th July, 2023. Among 13 district adversely affected by overflowing water from rivers include Ambala, Panchkula, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Kaithal , Panipat, Sonipat, Faridabad, Palwal, Fatehabad and Sirsa districts caused damage to standing crops in 1,60,645 hectare area, besides nearly 200 trees also fell down.

 The water level of Ghaggar in Sirsa reached more than 48,000 cusecs while the capacity is 30,000 cusecs, due to this, the embankment broke at four places in an area of 11 kilometers and five villages were flooded up to four to five feet water, as such  crop in 5000 acres submerged in water ,and seeing the rising water the people of nearby villages started mig. Similarly, to prevent water entering the population in villages in the area in Fatehabad district, people broke the roads at three places with the help of  JCBs as such Jakhal city and 8 other villages have been cut off from other areas including Jakhal, since water filled in almost all the villages in the area and movement of heavy vehicles also stopped. NDRF and Dera Sacha Sauda’s Green Ace Welfare Committee members rescued people to safer places in few flood affected villages, since Ghaggar water running up to 22, 490 cusecs on Chandpura siphon water started overflowing in drains in the area. Sirsa Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta said media persons that 49 villages are in continuous contact with the Ghaggar river, while Fatehabad DC Mandeep Kaur said that the embankments of the villages are being strengthened.
According to information, rice and wheat stocks of the government lying at two godowns at Manakpur and Dukheri villages near Ambala were destroyed due to lying in five to six feet
