Paralympic Gold Medallist Nitesh Kumar Honoured as Health Champion of the Year

Bengaluru : Happiest Health, a leader in health and wellness knowledge, launched its ‘Health Champion’ initiative in bengaluru, setting the stage for future events aimed at identifying and celebrating individuals who have triumphed over serious health challenges. This initiative seeks to recognize not only those who have defied the odds but also the caregivers who support them, positioning these individuals as beacons of hope and inspiration for others.

At the curtain-raiser event, Paralympic Gold medallist Nitesh Kumar was named the “Health Champion of the Year 2024”. He, along with Happiest Health’s Chairman, Ashok Soota, officially inaugurated the event, which was attended by senior management and media representatives.

Commenting on the launch, Ashok Soota said, “Happiest Health was founded on the belief that everyone deserves to live a life of dignity and good health, despite the many hurdles life presents. Soota also highlighted plans for the 2025 Health Champion of the Year Awards, announcing that an esteemed jury led by renowned healthcare leader Dr. Devi Shetty would select the next awardee. “Dr. Shetty’s unmatched contributions to healthcare, especially for the underprivileged, ensure that our selection process is grounded in both expertise and empathy.”

Anindya Chowdhury, CEO of Happiest Health – Knowledge and Diagnostics, emphasized the broader vision of the ‘Health Champion’ initiative, saying, “This milestone allows us to further spread our message and create more opportunities for individuals to share their stories. We look forward to collaborating with partners as we expand this effort.”

In his remarks, Nitesh Kumar spoke of the deeper significance of his recognition, stating, “Winning a Paralympic gold is a great honor, but being able to inspire others is even more meaningful. If my journey can offer hope to someone battling their own health challenges, I would consider that a true accomplishment. I encourage everyone to stay active, engage in sports for recreation, and prioritize their health—eat well, sleep well, and limit screen time.”

The ‘Health Champion’ initiative will include two awards: Health Champion of the Quarter and Health Champion of the Year. The first annual Health Champion of the Year Awards will take place in September 2025. A selection panel will choose quarterly winners based on the inspirational and motivational impact of their stories, and these winners will automatically be in the running for the annual award.

Quarterly winners will receive a certificate of recognition, a cash prize, a wellness package, and a feature in Happiest Health magazine. The annual Health Champion will also receive speaking opportunities and media coverage.
