Bengaluru, Nov 19: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated the Central Government’s policy decisions and commitment towards liberalizing the technology and innovations industry, while virtually inaugurating the 23rd Edition of the “Bengaluru Tech Summit” here on Thursday.
Highlighting the role of technology in the defence sector, the Prime Minister said that the rapid use of technology played an important role in global conflicts, besides also support from data protection and cyber-security.
Union IT and Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who also addressed the event virtually, said that the Government is keen on promoting India as a huge +Data Center+ since data would be the engine of digital economy that would also be driving international commerce. “India produces huge data and we are going to very soon finalise a data protection law,” he said while urging the Karnataka Chief Minister to ensure that the state becomes the centre of the country’s data economy.
Co-Founder Infosys Kris Gopalkrishna, in his virtual address, noted that — despite the covid-19 crisis — India’s IT industry had performed successfully and IT companies in India and Global Delivery centres had managed the transition from working in office to working from home and delivering services to their customers, without any interruption.
A representative of the Karnataka Government’s vision group of information technology said that the next 30 years would be witnessing business undergoing a continuous transformation through adopting these technologies, in which IT systems and infrastructure would also be evolving and outsourcing seeing increased business.
As many as 25 countries are participating in “The BengaluruTech Summit 2020” — themed “Next is Now” — that will witness technocrats, researchers, investors and policy-makers from India and abroad focusing on over 270 subjects, while also showcasing the latest technological innovations through the ‘Knowledge Hub,’ ‘Innovation Corner,’ ‘One health’ and other sessions.
