Pregnant woman burnt to death by husband in Punjab

Amritsar, April 21 -In a heart rendering incident, a 23 years old pregnant lady was brutally set on fire. The accused first tied her with a bed then set her on fire.

Confirming the incident, police said that the accused has been identified as Sukhdev Singh who was a husband of the victim. Police said that incident occurred on Friday at village Bulley Nangal falling in the Baba Bakala Tehsil around 40 kilometers away from the Amritsar. The incident took place at their home where other household articles were also ruined to ash as she was set on fire within the four walls of the house.

Police said that the village head ( Sarpanch) has informed the police about the brutality of her husband, by the time police reached on the spot the lady was already succumbed to burn injuries.

Police said that during the course of investigation and the statements of other family members of the woman confirmed that the victim was carrying a six months pregnancy of twin babies in her womb.

Police said that as per information gathered from the family members and family relatives, heated arguments and petty disputes were the routine matters between the couple (Sukhdev and Pinky) that had made their relations strained. After the incident the accused fled away, later different police teams were dispatched to arrest the accused who was nabbed now in police custody under section 302 of IPC. Police said that the couple was married around two and half years back and Pinky was carrying a six month pregnancy at the time of incident.
