Haryana state government has prepared a list of properties of value worth over Rs 50 crore owned by nearly 128 drug smugglers, suppliers including three women in the state. Talking to the Chief of Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) Shrikant Jaghav also holding the charge of ADGP Ambala police range said that initially State Action Plan prepared by the state government has been launched in three districts Sirsa, Ambala and Panchkula neighboring Rajasthan and Punjab states known as Hot spots for drugs smuggling and addiction in the country. A meeting in this regards was held recently at CDhandigarh in which Haryana Chief Secretary, Director General Police Haryana and senior police Bureaucrats were present.
HSNCB Chief Shrikant Jaghav said that on the order of State Home Minister Anil Vij strict action is being taken against drug smugglers and suppliers as per State Action Plan and a list of 128 smugglers including three women against whom cases under NDPS Act have already been registered in past has been prepared whose properties of value over Rs 50 crore will be attached by the state government similar to bulldozer campaign in which large number of properties of drug smugglers built illegally in the state were demolished in past sometime. Jaghav said that there are still large number of illegal properties constructed by drug smugglers, suppliers and hard core criminals on encroached government land likely to be demolished in future also. Information also reveals that there are as many as 18 drug smugglers in the list having 93 cases registered against them under NDPS Act in different police stations in the state.
A survey conducted by HSNCB reveals that seven districts in Haryana state have been identified in which maximum number of drug smugglers and suppliers are active which include Gurugram, Kurukshetra. Sirsa, Faridabad, Fatehabad, Hisar and Hansi have large numbers of illegal properties which are likely to be attached by the state government or demolished under bulldozer scheme. According to data prepared by HSNCB, there are six properties of value worth Rs 4 crore at Faridabad, seven properties of value worth Rs 5 crore at Sirsa, seven properties each of value worth about Rs 50 lakh at Fatehabad, seven properties each of value worth about Rs 10 lakh at Kurukshetra owned by drug smugglers likely to be attached by the state government shortly. Jaghav told that data of nearly 175 drug smugglers having illegal properties in the state has been prepared by HSNCB which would either be attached by the government or demolished with bulldozers in Haryana state. Jaghav also ADGP Ambala range police told that properties of three drug smugglers including a woman were demolished at Ambala and there are another three drug smugglers in the town whose properties will be either attached or demolished shortly. He disclosed that there is a long list of large number of illegal properties belonging to drug smugglers at Karnal, Panipat and Rohtak to be demolished in the near future.
During recent Lok Sabha session, question as regard increasing cases of drugs smuggling and addiction among people, especially young generation was raised by members of political parties in opposition when Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured that in a period of coming two years all drug mafias as well as drug smugglers will be pushed behind bars in the country. He said, drugs smuggling has become a challenge before ruling government where huge quantity of drugs is being smugglers in the country by international networks via sea routes and to stop drug smuggling National Drug Control Bureau has been set up in the country brought satisfactory results in few states including Haryana where large number of drug smugglers, suppliers have been arrested and huge quantity of drugs seized. According to available data, between year 2006 and 2013 police had seized 21500 lakh kilogram drugs from smugglers in the country, whereas between year 2014 till date police has recovered 62000 lakh kilogram drugs from smugglers.
Increasing drug addiction among youths is a serious problem at present not only in Haryana and Punjab but in several other states. A recent survey in this regard revealed that drugs are being widely consumed by youths including females residing in hostels and PG houses in urban areas as well as by women residing in rural areas where door-to-door service for supply of drugs is available. It has been observed that majority of youths earning easy money by supplying drugs door-to-door have now left interest in jobs. Survey also revealed that every second or third youth staying in rural areas becoming addict to drugs. Information also reveals that drugs are being illegally smuggled by terrorist groups from Pakistan in Punjab via Indo-Pak border. Information reveals, Taliban presently ruling in Afghanistan cultivating opium crop or preparing heroine with the help of chemicals which have become a major source of their income given rise to illegal smuggling of drugs in Punjab through a network of terrorist groups in Pakistan in order to make Indian youths addicted to drugs and become mentally sick.
