Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief, Dilbagh Singh on Wednesday issued a stern warning, declaring that the properties of Jammu and Kashmir militants who have sought refuge in Pakistan will be confiscated.
This announcement comes in the wake of increasing concerns about Pakistan-based militants attempting to reignite insurgency in border areas like Rajouri and Poonch, as well as other parts of the Jammu region.
“We have identified a list of terrorists who originally hail from Jammu and Kashmir but have fled to Pakistan for shelter. Their assets are in the process of being seized, and this action will persist,” DGP Dilbagh Singh stated during a press briefing in Rajouri.
Singh went on to accuse these individuals of being the driving force behind efforts to revive militancy within Jammu and Kashmir. He issued a clear message that no leniency would be shown to these militants should they attempt to return to the region, asserting that “if they try to come back, they will be killed.”
Sources have indicated that the Jammu and Kashmir police are currently compiling a comprehensive list of militants originally from the region who are currently residing and operating in Pakistan.
In a related development, the Indian army successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in the Mandi sector of the Poonch district. Two terrorists attempting to cross the LoC were engaged by the army in a joint operation with the police.
The militants engaged in heavy gunfire with the troops but were ultimately neutralized. One militant’s body and war-like equipment were recovered, while efforts are ongoing to locate the body of the second militant killed during the operation.
