Proposal approved for developing IMT at Ambala hanging since 13 years

Two-time Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday during his visit to Ambala promised to set up Industrial Model Township (IMT) in Ambala to promote industry and employment opportunities in the area if Congress government is formed.

Ambala: Proposal for developing an Industrial Model Township (IMT) in 1852 acre area near Ambala City was approved by the government in 2009 when Bhupinder Singh Hooda was chief minister in the state, and the project started in 2011 with the efforts of then Ambala City MLA Vinod Sharma when initially acquirement of 400 acres land started in six villages: Panjokhra, Khatauli, , Mandour, Zanetpur, Garnala and Kakru near Ambala city, not only to bring prosperity in the area but also increase employment opportunities for nearly 25,000 youths in the area. Surprisingly, farmers and leaders of several political parties including a group of Congress led by Kumari Shelja started to protest against this project to be set up on agricultural land when it came to halt.

Information reveals, Kartikey Sharma Rajya Sabha member son of Vinod Sharma recently has raised this issue in Lok Sabha session again. He said, Ambala being  situated on the National highway has easy connectivity with the rest of the country by road as well as railway and now shortly by air also, since the domestic airport at Ambala is likely to be inaugurated soon. Vinod Sharma while talking to media persons here recently said that developing an IMT at Ambala was, and still is his dream project likely to bring boom for the financial as well as industrial structure in the state. Now during present poll promotion by every political party assuring to develop an IMT in the town in case it comes to power in Haryana.
