Amritsar: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today dedicated the first ‘School of Eminence’ to the people of the state.
‘Punjab is witnessing a major revolution in the field of education and this school is a stepping stone for it” said the Chief Ministers.
The Chief Minister said that this is a momentous occasion and the day is not far when Punjab will be a front ranking state in the country. They said that this initiative of the state government will ensure access of students especially from poor and underprivileged sections to the quality education. They said that the day is not far when students from these schools will excel in every field and bring laurels for the state.
The Chief Ministers in a statement said that the process has begun to transform the destiny of students by this effort. They said that this school is just the beginning and more such schools will be opened for the well being of the poor students. They envisioned that these schools will be the modern day temples which will bring a qualitative change in the lives of the students.
Meanwhile, both the Chief Ministers also interacted with the students of the school by visiting their classrooms. Profusely thanking both the Chief Ministers for this farsighted move Diksha, a student of 11th standard said that earlier she used to study in a private school. But, she said that the world class facilities that are being offered in this school were not even available in those schools. She expressed gratitude to Bhagwant Singh Mann and Arvind Kejriwal for setting up these schools.
Kirandeep Kaur, another student who got admission after appearing in the exam, said that she hailed from a village in the border area and had always aspired to become a doctor. She said that before few years this dream seemed difficult but now with this school her dream will be true soon. She thanked both the Chief Ministers for taking this noble initiative for transforming the destiny of younger generations.
Aryan and Sania two other students also aired same views and said that the school is a dream school with ultra modren classroom and labs. They said that they are proud to be students of this school adding that digital study and ultra modren infrastructure will help them scale new heights in life.
Both the Chief Ministers had detailed interaction with the parents of the students who also hailed both of them for this farsighted decision. Amar Pal and Tripta Rani who hailed from a village in the border area apprised them that this school doesn’t look like a government school. They complimented both the Chief Ministers for thinking about the welfare of the poor students. They said that the private schools harassed the students on one pretext or other but this school is a paradigm shift in the field of education.
Reena Mehta, another teacher also hailed the Chief Ministers for this historic initiative. She said that it is nice to see that students are getting quality education that is too free of cost.
Chanda, a primary teacher said that had such schools being opened decades ago then the face of the state will have been changed till now. She said that her son had studied in a private school but now he has got admission here after the exam. She lauded both the Chief Ministers for this path breaking initiatives aimed at well being of the future generations.
Both the Chief Ministers visited the newly constructed basketball court where the Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains apprised them about the details of the school. Both the Chief Ministers also flagged off the first bus of transport facility for government schools in the state.
On the occasion Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, Chief Secretary Anurag Verma, Secretary Education KK Yadav, Special Principal Secretary to CM Ravi Bhagat and others were also present.
