Patiala: Worried about deteriorating health of Jagjit Singh Dallewal, a team of medical experts constituted by the Punjab government have met and urged the fasting farmer leader to take necessary healthcare treatment.
The veteran leader of a farmers faction from Punjab, who has since declined the medical support, is on a fast for a month now at Khanauri in Patiala district on Punjab-Haryana border.
He was apprised on Friday that his vital health status was not up to the mark. For this, he needed immediate medical attention.
Also a team comprising top officers including Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Patiala Range Mandeep Singh Sidhu, Deputy Commissioner Patiala Dr Preeti Yadav and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Patiala, Dr Nanak Singh, along with the medical experts, met the fasting leader for this purpose.
Both teams constituted by Punjab government offered quality treatment to the farmer leader. He was also offered the option of shifting him to either Rajindra Medical College or Mata Kaushalya Hospital along with any volunteer.
Though Dalewal and his aides declined the offer, but the experts and the officials informed that a medical team of Patiala’s Rajindra Medical College and Mata Kaushalya Hospital has already been deployed near venue of the ongoing fast.
The officers asked the leader to continue his agitation but take the necessary medicine and liquids necessary for his healthcare.
They apprised the farmer leader that medical teams have been put on round the clock duty at the protest site and Two Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulances are deployed there. The required medicines and equipment like ECG monitor, Defibrillator, Ventilator, Suction machine, Oxygen with mask, Intravenous fluids, Respiratory intubation equipment, catheterisation material are readily available and functional.
They also tried to impress upon the farmer leader to shift to temporary hospital, set up 700 meters from the protest venue, equipped with all the emergency medicines and equipment.
