Punjab government should arrest Dera Sirsa head,Honeypreet in Bargari sacrilege case: Dhami

Amritsar, March 16 – Reacting to the revelations made by accused Pardeep Kaler, who was recently arrested in the case of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari in 2015, in the Chandigarh court, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami asked the Punjab government to arrest Dera Sirsa head Gurmeet Ram Rahim after taking him on production through the court and also immediately arrest his follower Honeypreet.

In a statement issued from the SGPC office on Saturday, Dhami said that with the statements recorded in the court by the accused Pradeep Kaler, who was arrested in the Bargari sacrilege case, it is clear that Dera Sirsa head was behind this entire anti-Sikh crime. He said that from time to time the governments of the state have only played politics instead of giving justice to the Sikhs on this serious matter.

Dhami asked the Punjab government that now when the names of Dera Sirsa head Gurmeet Ram Rahim and his follower Honeypreet have clearly come out from the statements of accused Pardeep Kaler, the government should immediately arrest both of them and bring them to Punjab and proceed with the investigation to give justice to the Sikhs.

Dhami also asked the Punjab government that since the arrested accused Pradeep Kaler was the leader of the political wing of Dera Sirsa, he should also be investigated in connection with the Maur bomb blast case of 2017, in which seven innocent people including 5 children had lost their lives. He said that in this case also, many important pieces of evidence regarding the involvement of Dera Sirsa have already come to light.
