Racket of 3 arrested allegedly prepared fake registration of 1500 vehicles

Special Investigation Team (SIT) busted a racket involved in preparing fake registration documents of vehicles.  Accused Amit Kumar computer operator and Rajinder Dangi motor registration clerk both originally hailing from Rohtak and working in SDM office arrested by the police during remand period admitted prepared nearly 1500 registration of vehicles on the basis of fake documents in past three years. Amit Kumar went underground to avert arrest surrendered before the court at Sirsa from whom Rs 25 lakh was also recovered during police remand. Both arrested disclosed the names of few dealers involved in conspiracy including Sunil Chitkara a dealer and permanent resident of Rohtak arrested by police lodged in Sirsa jail at present also a mastermind in the racket. Both arrested accused also disclosed the names of few dealers involved in the racket.

According to SIT, the racket used to change engine and chasis numbers before fake registration of vehicles mostly sold in auction or stolen and maximum number of these vehicles were further sold at Sonepat through a network of dealers most of these being used as taxi in other states. Many of such fake registered vehicles were also financed by the financiers issuing fake sale certificate of these vehicles. Kamaldeep Goel SP told that police is searching the staff of such finance companies provided loan facility on these vehicles having registration number on the basis of fake documents. He told that police has already traced out and taken possession few vehicles. SP further disclosed, Sunil Chitkara was mastermind in this racket involved in this illegal business along with Amit Kumar and Rajinder Dangi both working in SDM office and maximum number of vehicles were registered on the basis of fake documents during lock down period in 2020. SIT is searching the records of all fake registered vehicles as well as data on software in SDM Jagadhari office. SP told that SIT has taken into custody large number of files of vehicles registered on the basis of fake documents.
