Racket of 7 promoting illegal mining, attacked RTA busted

Dr. Preeti ADC Ambala also holding charge of Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) with the help of police Cyber Cell busted a gang of seven anti-social elements running a group of nearly 500 members including those involved in illegal mining and transporters overloading their vehicles during night hours with sand and stones from three rivers flowing in the area around Naraingarh in Ambala district, besides having more than 50 stone crushers some of them functioning illegally in-spite of sealed by State Pollution Control Board Haryana. District administration in-spite of several raids from time to time and efforts has failed to stop this illegal practice as a result state government incurring heavy revenue loss every year.

Dr Preeti RTA jointly with police arrested seven persons of a gang including master mind Rameshwar allegedly passing messages about movement of RTA staff and police keeping an eye from prominent places in the area including ‘dhabas’ and petrol pumps to  nearly 500 members on WhatsApp group. Police also recovered the mobile phone used by alleged accuse to pass messages to all members. The members of racket even not spared Dr Preeti ADC cum RTA and attempted to hit her official I-20 car with a tractor trolley, which fell down in deep road side when she was on checking duty chasing miscreants during night hours on September 17. She told media persons that on getting information about movements of RTA staff and police on their mobile phones the miscreants involved in illegal mining managed to slip to safe places immediately and they were paying Rs 2000 each for these services.

During police investigation, arrested accused disclosed that they used code words while passing messages on mobile phone like ‘Har Har Mahadev’, ‘Tiger’, ‘Tiger Jinda hai’ and ‘Jai Bajrang Bali’. During September 17 late night when Dr Preeti was on night patrolling, the miscreants while chasing her on the direction of a former village ‘Sarpanch’ attempted to hit her official car between village Handesra in Punjab and village Panjokhra in Haryana which overturned but she was escaped. Panjokhra police impounded three vehicles including a ‘Scorpio’ and two ‘Maruti Alto’ cars. used by alleged accused and reached up to the owners of these car on the basis of their registration numbers after raids at Khelan and Malan villages within hours and cases under sections attempt to kill, kidnapping and creating obstacles while on government duty.. Police as well as RTA has intensified checking against illegal mining as well as vehicle overloading in the area. Information reveals, RTA department has collected fine worth Rs 25 lakh in the month August 2020 and Rs 25 lakh during this month up to September 18 as against fine worth Rs 7 lakh only collected in the month August in 2029 thus raising a question mark on the working of RTA officials Ambala.

Investigation by CIA Staff Naraingarh reveals thata youth Sachin resident of Baldev Nagar was deployed to keep an eye over the movement of IAS officer Preeti ADC cum RTA Secretary and inform to all members of group. CIA Staff Inspector Arvind Kumar told that six members arrested by the police identified as Amrit Pal alias Boota Singh (Transporter) resident of Subhash Nagar Ambala Cantt, Sachin Saini resident of village Gaganhedi were remanded to police custody for two days on Saturday, whereas four others arrested by the police identified as  Rajinder resident of village Mohri, Deepak (Driver) resident of Durga Nagar Ambala City, Manni (Transporter) resident of Baldev Nagar Ambala City and Gurdev alias Raju  (Transporter) resident of village Gorsia were remanded to police custody by the court on Sunday. According to police information, a case has been registered against nearly 60 persons allegedly attacked, damaged RTA car.

In another inident reported on Saturday night, driver of a tractor trolley attempted to hit the vehicle of Mining Inspector Raj Kumar near village Chhajju Majra and a case was registered against the driver who managed to flee leaving his tractor trolley. The driver arrived at the spot after an hour to take his tractor trolley which overturned on road side later impounded by the police..
