Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has reiterated his call for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, saying that it does not make sense to run the region from Delhi.
During his recent visit to Srinagar, Gandhi interacted with a group of Kashmiri women and highlighted the importance of returning statehood, which, he said, was taken away for the first time in Indian history.
Gandhi expressed his concerns about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, accusing him of not listening to others and being unwilling to acknowledge mistakes. He suggested that this approach stemmed from insecurity and weakness, rather than strength.
The Congress leader also engaged in a candid conversation with the women, discussing issues ranging from societal pressures to get married to their educational aspirations. He noted the resilience and wisdom of the women of Kashmir and stressed the need to ensure their voices are heard.
