Rahul predicts clean sweep by INDIA bloc in UP

Rudrapur: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today predicted a clean sweep by the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) in Uttar Pradesh, saying the alliance was set to form the government at the centre on June 4.

Addressing a largely attended public rally here today, Gandhi said, this was an ideological fight between the INDIA bloc on the one hand and the BJP on the other. He said that the BJP wanted to scrap the constitution as it was against the reservations.

He said, the INDIA bloc will never let the constitution that has been given to the nation by Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar to be scrapped. He said, for 3000 years the Dalits faced atrocities and exploitation and it was the constitution that gave them respect, which the BJP wants to scrap, as it wants to do away with the reservations.

Gandhi assured that not only will the INDIA bloc ensure that the reservations will continue, it will also remove the fifty percent cap on reservations.

Criticising the Agnipath scheme of recruitments in the defence services, he said, it was not the army’s scheme but that of the PMO. He said, the INDIA government will scrap this scheme and restore the earlier system of recruitment in defence forces.

He said, for the first time the BJP had turned soldiers into labourers, who will neither have pension nor canteen facilities.

Taking a dig at Modi for claiming that he had directly descended from top and had been sent by God, he asked, what sort of God was it that told him to work only for Adani and not to work for the poor, the weak, the downtrodden, farmers and labourers. If God had really sent him, he would have told him to help the weakest people of the country, he added.
