According to Navdeep Singh Virk Additional Director General Police (Law & Order), crime graph has witnessed fall in past one year when 96.672 crime cases were registered by state police department in past nine months with effect from January 1 till September 30, 2020 this year as compared to crime cases recorded as 1,02,831 cases in this period in previous year, of them nearly 88% murder cases, 93% rape cases were solved by the police. Information reveals, 20.73% drop in kidnapping cases was recorded during year 2020 as compared to previous year. Information further reveals that one of prime reasons for drop in crimes during present year identified due to spread of corona epidemic outbreak in the state.
According to state police records, crimes against women, too, dropped in past one year from10000 to 8300 in Haryana state which included 1126 cases of rapes, 209 cases of attempt to rape, 1914 kidnapping cases, 217 cases of dowry death,1856 cases of eve teasing, 183 cases of excesses on females, 2725 dowry cases, two cases of acid attack, 36 cases of drug smuggling, and 23 cases registered under PNDT Act during period January 1 to September 30 this year and nearly 93% rape cases were solved by the police and 20.73% fall in kidnapping cases was recorded. Police also solved nearly 88%murder cases from April till September this year when the state was under the grip of corona epidemic outbreak.
National Crime Record Bureau Report-2019 reveals that 14326 Crime Against Women cases were reported during the year 2018 as against 14683 cases reported in 2019, which include 145 rape cases, 224 sex exploitation cases, 576 kidnapping cases,811 cases of dowry demand, 7 smuggling and 3 cases of acid attack on women. Cases of road accidents also slashed by 20.23% with effect from April to September 2020, besides state police registered 2240 drug smuggling cases in which 339 kg opium, 208 kg charas, 31 kg heroine, 11 kg smack, 7319 kg ganja, 10130 kg poppy husk was recovered from them. Police also seized 1241 pistols and 37 rivolvers from smugglers.
