A research process will be started in Haryana in view of fast increasing cases of cancer disease in the state, addressing media persons State Health cum Home Minister Anil Vij said that a committee will be formed soon for cancer research in the state. He said, this committee will record the history of cancer patients and study research will be done on it. Vij was replying a question asked by media persons regarding increasing cases of cancer on the occasion of World Cancer Day. He said that there will be research on cancer by experts at Atal Cancer Care Centre Ambala Cantt as well as in PGIMS at Rohtak.
The Health Minister said that keeping this dreaded disease in mind, it is growing very fast and spreading its wings, state government has built a state-of-the-art cancer Care Centre in Civil Hospital Ambala Cantt and people are getting a lot of benefits from it. He said, so far around 125 operations have been successfully done in this hospital and patients from the neighboring states are also coming here for treatment of this dreaded disease free of cost and supply of free medicines. Vij told that from Feb 15, for the post of director a senior doctor of AIIMS will also join duty.
In response to a question regarding teaching ‘Ayurveda’ in the MBBS course, Vij said, we have formed a committee to find out its possibilities and modalities and are in the process to take permission from the central committee seriously to start this process. Health Minister said that some people insist that all other treatment methods have failed, but it cannot be so because the alternative systems and medicines in our country also have its own importance. He said that instead of creating discussions over this issue we should work jointly over alternate ‘Pathies’. Vij said, if someone is cured by allopathic treatment will also be cured by Ayurvedic pills. He said, surgeons, doctors and experts in allopathic also take Ayurvedic medicines for the treatment in many cases, the spices that are put in vegetables are also having Ayurvedic medicines effect, which everyone take.
Dr. Yash Pal Verma SMO told that Atal Cancer Care centre set up inside the Civil Hospital Ambala Cantt during Month June 2022 presently having monthly between 1200 to 1500 OPD of cancer suspected patients visiting from Haryana as well as neighboring states Punjab, Himachal, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Delhi has registered 11424 patients in past about eight months suffering from mouth, neck, lungs, uterus and breast cancer and also conducted more than 213 surgical operations, 2024 kemo-therapies, 316 Radio-therapies and braki-therapies in this period. He said, there are as many as 11 experienced doctors along with anesthesia experts, physiotherapists and dieticians to treat patients assisted by a team of staff nurses and para-medical staff, besides having high-tech imported machines for the treatment of patients..
Meanwhile, while talking to Dr. Sanjeev senior surgeon in Cancer department at PGIMS Rohtak, expressing worry disclosed that fast increasing cases of breast care in women, especially several cases are being received in which females between age group 30 and 35 have been found suffering from breast care, even few cases have been reported at PGI Rohtak in which females of age between 18 and 20 were detected suffering from breast cancer. He disclosed that Haryana state having population of hardly about 2.5 crore ranking at fifth position in the country as regard cancer. Dr. Sanjeev told that nearly 3.5 lakh suspected cancer patients are visiting for OPD at PGIMS Rohtak every year among those nearly 30% are found suffering from breast cancer. He told that finding hard lumps inside breast during first stage one should contact doctor for mammography test, since such lumps start spreading on both sides reaching second and the third stage of disease when it is too late and can be removed only by surgical operation.
