Residents worried over twin city Ambala now turning as crime city

The residents of twin city Ambala expressed worry over fast increasing crimes since past sometime as regard smuggling and sale of drugs, liquor and incidents of illegal sex scandals, cases of thefts, automobile lifting and snatchings. The town has witnessed various serious crimes in past couple of days. SHO Sadar police station Ambala Cantt on a clue about illegal sex business going on conducted a raid along with Anil Kumar DSP Ambala Cantt at Deep Hotel in Rai Market Ambala Cantt and during search in the hotel rooms found a young couple including a girl from Nepal both lying in highly exposed condition in room No. 114 on Saturday late night. Police arrested four persons identified as Kamal, Jatin both employees managing the hotel along with the young couple. However, in hotel record the girl was shown as a resident of Ludhiana and there was no entry of her male partner in hotel record. Later, during preliminary investigation ‘Nepali’ girl admitted that she was brought on contract basis through a agent for illegal sex business.  SHO Naresh Kumar told media persons that a case was registered against six persons, of them four were arrested and search for the owner of hotel Deepak Batra and the agent Bharat started by the police.   

Information reveals that the name of many high profile persons is likely to be exposed in this case. The owner of Deep Hotel Deepak Batra is having another two restaurants in Ambala Cantt including Dilli Darbar and another under construction on the national Highway No. 1 which is presently lying sealed by the Municipal Committee Ambala Cantt. The bale application moved by Deepak Batra in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ambala on Monday was rejected and now the alleged accused has applied for bale in Punjab and Haryana High Court. According to police investigation officer, police has traced out telephone numbers of several high profile persons from the call detail which are being examined by the police investigation team likely to expose their names also shortly. Police information reveals that three police teams has been constituted for the arrest of Deepak Batra conducting search for alleged accused went underground after the raid at Deep Hotel at Panchkula, Chandigarh, Mohali and Babyal conducting raids at his relatives.

According to information by Jashandeep Singh Randhawa SP Ambala, a search campaign is going on in twin city Ambala hotels since past few days on the information that liquor is being served illegally in many hotels, restaurants and ‘dhaba’.  Sometime ago, the residents of Lalkurti Bazar area near inter-state bus terminal Ambala Cantt  having nearly 25 hotels and private lodge in this residential area also made a complaint about illegal activities going on in these hotels and it becomes difficult for females living in this area to come out of their house even during late evening hours when police also conducted raids at few hotels.  

Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner Panchkula Pradeep Yadav recently given additional charge of Ambala district also conducted raids on getting information that liquor is being served in large number of hotels and restaurants without having bar license in twin cityAmbala and raided Dilli Darbar restaurant in cantonment area on Monday when during investigation the manager of the restaurant as well as staff admitted serving liquor to the customers as well as holding 30 to 40 parties in the restaurant every month in which liquor is also served. However, the raiding team could not recover stocks of liquor at the time of raid. Prior to this the raiding team also got information from Cantonment Board office that no permission was granted to the hotel management to serve liquor. However, police arrested the restaurant manager Harshwardhan Jain and on the complaint of DETC registered a case against owners of the restaurant Deepak Batra.

DETC Panchkula Pradeep Yadav also raided another restaurant Baba Suroor at Jaggi City Centre on the National Highway No. 1Ambala City where liquor was being served to the customers and liquor bottles were also displayed near the counter, which were seized by the police arrested restaurant manager Deepak when he failed to produce any permission as regard serving liquor without license. Baldev Nagar police station registered a a case against the restaurant owner on the complaint of DETC.

Past crime scenario at Ambala City reveals that police had registered cases against two Spa Centres located in Baldev Nagar area Ambala City where flesh trade was going on in these saloons. DSP Headquarter Ambala Ramesh Kumar along with team from Panjokhra police station conducted a raid on Tuesday evening at  the Nature Accupressure Saloon located in Defence Colony Ambala Cantt and took into possession four persons including two females of the area lying in highly objectionable condition and during preliminary investigation both admitted that they were often brought for prostitution in the saloon. SHO Panjokhra police station Gulshan Kumar told that a case under immoral trafficking act has been registered against the owner of the saloon a resident of Panipat who took this premises on rent.

Meanwhile, Naresh Kumar SHO Sadar police Station told media persons that they raided several hotels in Ambala Cantt on 22nd February 2023 and found that most of the hotels and restaurants situated on Railway Road, Staff Road and Jagadhari Road including Ashoka Hotel, Café 21 and many more during checking were found selling foods without GST or there was no entry of visitors staying in the hotels and raiding team found four adult couples were seen moving in the hotel without entry in hotel records. However, police took no stern action against such hotels except warning. He said that police brought owners of few hotels including in Lalkurti area for investigation in which lapses were observed by the raiding teams and a case was also registered against a hotel owner.
