Rice miller cheated banks, traders in Haryana surrenders after 5 years

KARNAL(SATISH HANDA: Naresh Singla owner of Ramdev International Company having rice mill at Madanpur in Karnal district and a famous rice exporter to European and Western Asian countries went underground all of sudden in July 2016 along with his brother Suresh Singla, wife Sangeeta all directors in the firm after cheating banks from whom took loans for amount worth Rs 411 crore including Rs 173 crore from State Bank of India, Rs 76.09 crore from Canara Bnak, Rs 64.31 crore from Union Bank, Rs 51.31 crore from Central Bank, Rs 36.91 crore from Corporation Bank and Rs 12.27 crore from IDBI Bank. Singla also procured paddy stocks of value worth Rs 170 crore from several commission agents in grain markets at Karnal, Gharauna, Pilukhera, Jind, Nigdu, Asandh, Mathoda and Panipat for milling rice on credit. He did not even spared Food & Supply department Haryana and procured paddy crops of value worth about Rs 6 lakh for milling in which state government also registered case for recovery of payment from three guarantors Ajay, Raj Kumar, Subhash and an employee of department Mukesh, all arrested by the police and later released when government sealed rice mill.

Meanwhile, State Bank of India accompanied by other banks registered the case which was handed over CBI for investigation and a case was also registered with Sadar Bazar police Station Karnal against three directors of the firm under sections 406, 420, 409, 120B IPC in July 2016.  Addressing media persons, SP Karnal  Ganga Ram Poonia said that Naresh Singla absconding since last five years had leaft the country  along with his family to Dubai five years ago all of sudden surrendered to police on October 9, 2020 and he was arrested by the police and case was forwarded to Economic Crime Cell of Haryana police for investigation. Singla was remanded to police custody for seven days by the court at Karnal.

Poonia expressed surprise over Naresh Singla’s returned from Dubai after years and surrender himself to police and under which circumstances he managed to flee along with family to Dubai when he was having lucrative export business in the country. Economic Crime Cell investigation reveal that Singla was to pay huge amount to banks as well as commission agents in several grain markets and decided to leave the country, but unfortunately he could not do well in rice breakage business at Dubai and now decided to re-establish his business again in the country by opening the shutters of his rice mill lying closed since past over five years as told by him since he is having good contacts with rice exporters in European and Western Asian countries like in past.
