Schneider optimistic on solar biz, eyes 30 pc growth

Kolkata: Global energy automation major Schneider Electric is optimistic about its solar business in the country and is looking at a growth rate of 25-30 per cent, a top company official has said.

“With national mission for solar power capacity addition in the country, we are very optimistic on growth in India with micro and mini-grids,” Schneider Electric India VP (Solar) Anurag Garg said here.

He said growth of domestic solar business would be around 25-30 per cent. Indicating a steady growth in India, Garg said installed capacity of Schneider’s inverters, a critical equipment for solar projects, will reach 1 GW in the next few months from 700 MW now. Schneider offers complete solar solutions, except panel and wires. Garg said micro and mini-grids are the most efficient means to deliver electricity to rural India and some 11,500 odd villages are yet to be electrified, but added that the government is very proactive in this regard. Speaking about the firm’s inverter plant in Bengaluru, Garg said its current capacity is 2.5 GW and some 70 per cent of the output is exported. — PTI
