Seminar on “Awareness about Digital Frauds at KCA

Amritsar : The post-graduate department of Commerce and Business Administration, Khalsa College, today organized a Seminar on “Digital Frauds: Awareness to Safe Banking Practices” in which Amit Gagneja, Senior vice president, Madhur Singh Arora, Vice President and Vijay from HDFC Bank spoke about rising threats of the frauds.

The programme was chaired by Dr. Mehal Singh, Principal and Dr. A. K Kahlon, Head and Dean welcomed the resource person. Dr. Mehal Singh said that the knowledge of safe banking practices is very important in today’s time. Dr. Sawraj Kaur, Coordinator introduced the distinguished guest and said that as there are many new avenues online to conduct financial transactions and hence frauds can also happen.

She further highlighted that the primary objective of the Seminar was to facilitate the participants to learn about various financial frauds and to understand security tips that will help them in protecting themselves from frauds.

Gagneja said not to download any unknown app on your phone/device.The app may access your confidential data secretly. He directed the participants to be vigilant while doing online transactions and not to share your OTP. Arora emphasized that in recent times, banking has transitioned to a seamless digital experience, available at your fingertip and with this transition and expansion of digital banking, cyber security has emerged as an area of focus for banks.

Vijay said that transactions involving receipt of money do not require scanning barcodes/QR codes or entering MPIN. He directed the participants an important tips to protect themselves from digital frauds and make safe transactions online like using Smart, verified apps only, browse secure and authorized websites only, use secure internet connections, be vigilant when using the card and to update your computer and mobile security. He guided all the participants to immediately report at Helpline Number 1930 in case of any Cyber fraud faced by them.

Dr. Megha conducted the stage and presented vote of thanks to the resource person and Prof. Meenu Chopra took over the charge for broadcasting of the event. The event was successfully conducted with the hard hearted efforts of the committee members such as Dr. Nidhi, Prof. Meenu Chopra, Dr. Megha, Prof. PoojaPuri, Dr. Samiya, Dr. Amarbir Singh and Prof. Tushar faculty members and students were present. Apart from them Deepak Devgan, Dr. Poonam Sharma, Dr. Ajay Sehgal, Dr. Rachhpal Singh and other faculty members of Commerce department were present during the programme.
