Black spots were seen on noble profession of doctors said to be saving life of patients when two senior doctors including a female trapped in health department as well as police net. Senior gynecologist of famous civil hospital Sector 6, Panchkula Dr Poonam Bhargava given extension after her retirement by the government now stated absconding by Panchkula police conducted raids at her sector 16 residence at Panchkula and other hide outs after a case was registered against her on the complaint of district health department. None of her family member was prepared to say about her where about, police said. She was produced before a 5-member committee comprising of Dr Sangeeta Singhal, Dr Umesh Modi, Dr Rani Singh, Dr Suresh Kumar and Dr Parvinder when admitted taken Rs 8000 advance at her residence against a deal to abort a four months pregnant carrying a female child in her womb as she was already having two daughters against a deal finalized for Rs 20000 through by her assistant Baljinder Kaur a class IV employee in Sector 6 hospital.. Later team also raided Poonam Bhargava’s residence and observed that she was having a complete set up required for termination of pregnancy and seized large number of tablets, injections and tools required for abortion.
The action was taken on the complaint of Aman Rajput finalised deal with Dr Poonam Bhargava and paid her Rs 8000 as advance when doctor gave him four tablets to be taken after every four hours before abortion to be conducted next day after receipt of balance payment. According to complainant, when he failed to have police cooperation in this regard prepared a video himself having all conversations with Dr Poonam Bhargava with complete recording for accepting money, handing over tablets, confirming that pregnancy would be terminated next day and advising to throw fetus wrapped in a plastic bag in the garbage at a distant place, which was handed over to Dr Jasmeet Kaur CMO Panchkula who immediately constituted a committee to investigate the case and forwarded report to Dr Suraj Bhan Kamboj Director General Health Department Haryana and the matter was brought in the knowledge of Cabinet Health & Home Minister Anil Vij who ordered immediate suspension of doctor and necessary action against her.
In another case, team of Central Narcotics Bureau (CBN) on a clue raided private Jayani Kalavati hospitals at Dabwali in Sirsa district and Sri Ganganagar owned by Dr. Dharminder Jayani a psychiatric having drugs de-addiction centres in both hospitals. CBN during surprise raids at both hospitals and recovered 11.85 lakh intoxicated tablets, which included 6.27 lakh tablet seized from Dabwali hospital and 5.58 lakh tablet seized from Sri Ganganagar hospital. Dr Dharminder Jayani was arrested by police on the complaint of CBN, produced in the court and remanded to judicial custody in jail. His wife Dr Suman Jayani told that entire stocks of intoxicated tablets were taken into custody by the police.
