Sexual harassment allegations against SP Jind proved fake

Jind: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) recorded the statements of 118 female police employees in the district as regard allegations of sexual harassment against the SP of Jind district of Haryana . The SIT under the leadership of ADGP (Crime Branch) Mamta Singh, spoke to as many as 118 women police personnel but no one accused the SP involved in sexual harassment to female police employees and given him clean chit to alleged accused finding the allegations to be baseless and submitted the allegations  to DGP Haryana saying that out of most of the female police personnel out of total n umber of 168 women police personnel in investigationin whose name the complaint was made, most of them are not even employed in Haryana police department. The Special Investigation Team constituted by Haryana Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapoor found the allegations of sexual harassment against Jind SP baseless, since woman police employee denied any sexual misconduct against SP Jind and categorically rejected the allegations that the Jind SP, Jind’s woman DSP and the woman police station in-charge together exploiting and harassing the women employees.

Information reveals, the special investigation team led by ADGP Mamta Singh comprising of IPS Aastha Modi and Sangeeta Kalia started the investigation on October 25, 2024, when a letter went viral on social media, in which Jind SP, DSP and Mahila SHO were accused of sexually harassing women police personnel. After these allegations, the investigation was handed over to IPS Aastha Modi, who had a preliminary investigation and termed the allegations as false and recommended an investigation by the higher authorities when DGP Kapoor constituted a SIT to investigate the complaint. Haryana Women Commission also recorded the statement of IPS allegedly attempting sexual exploitation of female police personnel of the district.  Haryana State Women Commission Chairperson Renu Bhatia had taken cognizance of the entire matter and summoned the Jind SP who said that he was ready for any investigation. Haryana  Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini directed Director General of Police Shatrughan Kapoor for the formation of a high-level committee. Jind SP had also requested the government to conduct a high-level investigation into the allegations against him, after which SIT was formed.

The SIT investigated five major points and found that no police personnel with the names Rani, Suman, Geeta, Suman Rani, Preeti, Reena and Sonia, in whose name the complaint was made, are posted in Jind. Allegations in the name of a widow police personnel named Rani had surfaced on the internet media, but they too turned out to be false. In the report submitted to the DGP, the SIT said that some women police personnel gave statements in writing while some did not reveal their names, but not a single woman police personnel came forward who complained against the Jind SP for sexual harassment, spoiling ACR or any other kind of harassment. The SIT found that none of the women police personnel who had received show cause notices or letters to join the departmental inquiry on various allegations confirmed the allegations of sexual misconduct. In its investigation, the SIT also checked the service records of women police personnel posted during the tenure of the falsely accused SP in Jind district, in which no allegation was proved.
