In the memorandum handed over to the CMi Vishnu Deo Sai by the SGPC, it was highlighted that there is a significant Sikh population in the state of Chhattisgarh, with Sikh families residing in every district contributing actively to the state’s development. The Sikh faith has a unique spiritual and historical heritage that offers guidance for uniting humanity. Considering the large Sikh population in Chhattisgarh, the SGPC intends to open a Degree and Skill Development College along with a Gurmat Sangeet Academy in Atal Nagar, New Raipur, in memory of Sri Guru Nanak Dev. The SGPC urged the government to allocate 10 acres of land for this purpose, so these institutions can function as centers for social and communal harmony.

The delegation informed the CM that if the government provides the land, the SGPC—as the representative institution of Sikhs—would take full responsibility for the construction. Rajinder Singh Mehta stated that the SGPC is already operating a significant number of educational institutions in Punjab and is also a leading force in promoting education in other states across India. He cited the example of SGPC’s successfully running educational institution in Mumbai. He mentioned that the demands of the Sikh community in Chhattisgarh were presented before the CM, who assured the delegation that he would seriously consider the proposal.
