Amritsar : Shriomani Gurdwara Pharbandhak Committee (SGPC) extended all cooperation to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during visit to Golden Temple and while performing sewa in the Harmander Sahib Complex.
Speaking over the visit of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, SGPC General Secretary Gurcharan Singh Grewal said that Rahul Gandhi was facilitated in every way during his visit to Harmander Sahib and extended all support when he was performing Sewa. He said, “Sikh community is very generous and never keeps any personal animosity or hatred to anyone. Nevertheless to say that his grandmother was solely responsible for sending the Army inside the Harmander Sahib and demolishing the highest Sikh temporal seat Akal Takht which was later built again by Sikhs. Rahul Knew it very well that his father Rajiv Gandhi was also responsible for the statement wherein he had said that ‘Earth trembles when a big tree falls’ that led anti Sikh riots in Delhi and across India. The wounds of Sikh widows are still simmering who had lost their husbands and family members during 1984 anti Sikh riots in Delhi as Gandhi family never bothered to visit them since they don’t have any remorse as what his father had done in past”.
Adding further he said, “His sister Priynka Gandhi visited Nalni in the prison who was accused of killing his father Rajiv Gandhi the reason behind to secure Hindu vote bank since Nalni was Hindu lady. But here Rahul never bothered to say anything that could show his repentance for what his father and grandmother did with the Sikh community”.
“ Sikhs are not fundamentalists as this community is very kind and humble since when its enemy visits them always give them cosy welcome and leave no stone unturned in the tune of hospitality for which Sikh community is known worldwide”, he quipped.
This is the glaring example of kindness of Sikh community when Rahul Gandhi was performing sewa in the Harmander Sahib (Golden Temple) at that time none of the member of Sikh community asked him about the wrong doing of his elders rather they facilitated him as per his convenience since he was here as devotee but it would be difficult to say that at the time of Sewa he was carrying any repentance in his inner mind for the blunder committed by his grandmother Indra Gandhi”, he quipped.
