SGPC setting up its own studio for live broadcast

Amritsar : The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC)  General Secretary Gurcharan Singh Grewal here today informed that SGPC is set to launch its YouTube channel to broadcast live Gurbani from the Golden Temple and Rs. 60 lac budget was already earmarked in the SGPC budget for the purpose.

All this being happened amid the controversy over the Punjab Assembly led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann passed the Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill, 2023, to allow free-for-all telecast.

However, the agreement between SGPC and PTC network  for live broadcast of Gurbani from the Golden Temple is going to expire in June 2023.

The SGPC setting up its own studio room for the relay at its office in the Golden Temple complex and work in this regard was larday in progress for the last six months, ever since Akal Takht had issued directions to SGPC to launch its own channel, said Grewal.

Grewal said that a resolution was already passed by the SGPC earlier in the month of April this year for hiring staff like camera persons, editing staff and editors for the channel.
