SGPC takes family members of Punjab youths detained in Dibrugarh for jail meeting

Amritsar-The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is taking the family members of youths detained from Punjab under the National Security Act (NSA) and lodged in Central Jail, Dibrugarh, Assam, for the jail meetings with their kin on April 27. In this regard, SGPC member Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka today left for Assam by air from Amritsar along with the family members of eight persons. SGPC’s writer of the Information Technology Department Jaskaran Singh is also accompanying Advocate Sialka during this visit to Dibrugarh.

Speaking on the occasion of departure for Assam, Advocate Sialka said that permission was taken for the meeting of the family members of the youths detained in the jail at Dibrugarh, according to which it has been arranged for Thursday. He said that after departure from Amritsar today by air, a flight will be taken from Delhi to Assam in the morning on Thursday. 

He said that among the 10 persons detained in the Dibrugarh jail, one member each of the eight detenues i.e. Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Varinder Singh Johal, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Harjit Singh Jallupur Khaira, Bhagwant Singh Bajeke, Basant Singh, Gurinderpal Singh and Papalpreet Singh, have been taken to Assam for meeting with their kin by SGPC.

Notably, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami had assigned the responsibility to SGPC member Advocate Sialka to pursue the cases of youths detained under NSA, by forming a legal team, which met the detenues in jail at Dibrugarh and also obtained necessary permission for meeting of family members.
