The situation of government schools in Haryana turning bad to worst due to shortage of teachers in these schools. Information reveals against the requirement of total number of 126136 teachers in all government schools in the state there are 99156 teachers working in 14492 government schools having shortage of 35980 teachers. State education department had to close down 196 primary and middle schools in past three years. Independent MLA from Meham Vidhan Sabha constituency Balram Kundu when raised a question over government’s claim now increased standard of education in government schools at par or even better as compared to private schools in the state when there is acute shortage of teachers in these schools. However, state education minister Kanwar Pal admitted that nearly 25% posts for teachers and other staff in government schools in the state are lying vacant. Kundu continued, there was difference of nearly 2500 teachers stated short in government schools in the state quoted during annual budget session this year and the recent Monsoon Vidhan Sabha session when no fresh appointment of teachers was made in this period which clearly indicates that incorrect information s are being provided by the government.
According to available data against requirement of total number of 126136 teachers in all government schools in the state there are 94156 teachers working in these schools thus having shortage of 35980 teachers. Information reveals, out of total number of 2315 posts for principal in these schools there is shortage of 391posts. Similarly, there is shortage of 261 senior teachers in these schools having 761 teachers against requirement of 1023 teachers. As regard PGT in government schools in the state against requirement of 40931 teachers there are only27414 teachers having shortage of 13500 teachers in government schools. In case of TGT against vacancies for 41254 teachers there are only 24260 thus having shortage of 16985 teachers in government schools in the state.
Information reveals, state government Haryana has recently taken decision to close down all such government schools having strength of less than 25 students and emerge all such schools in another schools within distance of nearly one kilometer as such 105 such schools in the state are being closed down which include two high schools and 105 middle schools in the state.
