New Delhi : The Samyukta Kisan Morcha expresses deep dismay at the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat, who had bravely fought her way into the finals of the wrestling event of the Paris Olympics. SKM supports her appeal to grant her Silver Medal.

SKM has also condemned the attitude of the Indian Olympic Association and the Government of India for this entire episode. The social media platforms of Vinesh Phogat running on social media show that many officials of the Wrestling Federation of India and the Indian Olympic Association were trying to stop her from going to the Olympics. The people of the country are also well aware that Vinesh Phogat, who raised her voice against sexual harassment against the then BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a favourite of the central government, was already a thorn in the eyes of the Modi government.

Expressing deep sorrow over the decision of Vinesh Phogat, who brought laurels to the country, to retire from wrestling, SKM called her a great player of the country.

SKM solidly stands with Vinesh in her hour of trial. Even though Vinesh was disqualified by the Olympic Association, no one can take her place as an Olympic gold medalist in the hearts of the people of India.
