His name should never be on the lips of a devotee of Bharat Mata: Vij
Chandigarh: Addressing media persons Haryana’s Energy, Transport & Labor Minister, Anil Vij expressed strong displeasure over those glorifying Aurangzeb, and said that some people are engaged in glorifying Aurangzeb, whereas Aurangzeb destroyed the symbols of our faith. He can never be a center of trust for us. He further added that anyone who is a devotee of Bharat Mata, a patriot, or a true lover of this country should never have Aurangzeb’s name on their lips. Taking a tough stance, Vij said, “Whoever wants to glorify Aurangzeb should first follow his footsteps: imprison his father at home and murder his own brother, then they may glorify him. The name of Aurangzeb should never be spoken by a patriot or someone who loves this nation.
When asked about Arvind Kejriwal’s statement comparing the current government to a dictatorship worse than the British rule, Vij responded sharply, said that defeated and disgraced figures often have such thoughts. The people have rejected him (Kejriwal), cut his kite, and now he is blaming the golden era ushered in under Narendra Modi Ji’s leadership, which is completely wrong. Referring to Kejriwal’s claim that AAP aims to fulfill the dreams of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Vij sarcastically remarked that just putting up pictures doesn’t mean you embody their ideals. The behavior of a party and its leaders should reflect those values. AAP has gone against the principles of these great personalities. Did they ever advocate distributing liquor, opening liquor shops, or engaging in corruption? Then how can it be believed that AAP follows their ideals?
On a media question as regard former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda called the BJP government’s promise of MSP for 24 crops false, Vij responded firmly, “Our government has announced MSP for 24 crops. If Hooda Sahib has any additional crops, he should let us know, and we will work on those as well.” Regarding BJP MP Dharamvir’s statement that producing country (desi) liquor would increase farmers’ income, Vij distanced himself, stating, “We do not agree with this; it is his personal opinion.” On a question about the ongoing budget session, Vij stated that for the first time, such extensive seating is taking place in the Haryana Assembly session where the Speaker is allowing all members to speak, which is a great example of a healthy democracy. When Congress was in power from 2009 to 2014, I was the leader of the BJP legislative party, and we had to struggle even to speak a few words since we were not allowed to speak and were thrown out of the House but this time, not a single member has been forced out and the House is running smoothly.”
Haryana’s Transport Minister Anil Vij strongly condemned the vandalism of Himachal Pradesh buses in Amritsar. He said this is not the right thing to do. An attempt is being made to damage the country’s federal system, this entire nation belongs to all of us, and every Indian has a right to every inch of its land. He said, there should be no division between Punjab and Himachal; everything is ours and such actions are taken by those who want to harm the country’s peace. Responding to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s statement that “Make in India prioritizes promotion over delivery, promotion happens only when there is actual delivery. “Congress was known for promoting without delivering, misleading the country for 50 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has prioritized developmental politics and has delivered results. If Kharge is troubled by showcasing these achievements, so be it.”
Reacting to Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman’s controversial statement comparing Muslims to Babur’s descendants and others to Rana Sanga’s descendants, Vij criticized the opposition and said that our opposition always tries to justify invaders, which is why such statements are made repeatedly. Why don’t they see Maharana Pratap or Shivaji as role models? Vij further added, black sheep exist everywhere, but role models should not be black sheep, since our land is full of heroes who are our true ideals. He emphasized that “Ram is our ideal, Krishna is our ideal. The sages who gave wisdom to the world are our ideals. We do not need to look elsewhere for inspiration. Unfortunately, instead of recognizing the greatness within, we keep searching outside.” Vij said during the freedom movement, Mahatma Gandhi was leading the nation and undertook many hunger strikes. If he had gone on even one hunger strike for Bhagat Singh, then Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh might have witnessed the light of independent India. Anil Vij emphasized the importance of honoring martyrs by following their path and keeping them in our hearts. He said that the revolution initiated by Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru must be carried forward. Vij added “One enemy (the British) has left, but many enemies remain within the country—corruption, inefficiency, and irresponsibility. We must fight against these internal enemies and eradicate them, only then will it be considered a true tribute to our martyrs. If we eliminate corruption, the country will progress a hundred times faster.”
Vij pointed out that in the past, corruption was so rampant that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi admitted that only Rs 15 out of every Rs 100 meant for public welfare actually reached the people, wwhereas today, under the BJP government, the entire amount reaches the beneficiaries directly. He emphasized the importance of honoring martyrs. “I have ensured that my city remembers them—by installing statues of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in Subhas Park, Shaheed Bhagat Singh at the Mini Secretariat, and a memorial for the martyrs of the 1857 uprising at GT Road in Ambala Cantonment likeloy to be inaugurated shortly, and all these will inspire future generations to dedicate themselves to the nation.” During the press conference, Anil Vij sang the patriotic song: “Tu na rona ki tu hai Bhagat Singh ki maa, Mar ke bhi lal tera marega nahi…” which energized the gathering, reminding them of their duty toward the nation. Vij recounted Bhagat Singh’s journey—born in 1907 into a revolutionary family, deeply impacted by the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, avenging Lala Lajpat Rai’s death by assassinating Saunders, and throwing bombs in the British Parliament to awaken the nation. He chose not to escape and instead embraced martyrdom along with Rajguru and Sukhdev in 1931. “Bhagat Singh wanted the youth to rise against British rule, and they did. Their sacrifice led to India’s freedom. Today, we salute all such revolutionaries who laid down their lives for the nation.”
Anil Vij, took a swipe at Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah by saying, “Omar Abdullah has no understanding of national politics; his focus is more on Pakistan.” He further stated, “Article 370 was not imposed by Hari Singh Ji. Hari Singh Ji signed the Instrument of Accession, which was signed by 565 princely states, and not a single letter was altered in it.” Vij was responding to questions from media personnel regarding Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s statement that Article 370 was not meant to protect Kashmiris, but rather to protect the people of Jammu from the people of Punjab. Vij said that Article 370 was granted special status to Kashmir by the then Congress government under Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in order to appease his grandfather, Sh. Sheikh Abdullah. Anil Vij advised Omar Abdullah to read up on such topics before commenting. Vij further remarked that since Article 370 is a creation of the Congress, the Congress will support it.
