Teams of different departments including Anti-human Trafficking, Special Crime Branch, Railway Protection Force, GRP comprising of 50 persons on a information jointly conducted raid at Ambala Cantt railway station on August 4, 2022 In train number 12907, Karambhumi Express train running between Jalpaiguri and Amritsar having stoppage four five minutes at Ambala Cantt railway station which remained stranded at the railway station for more than 90 minutes. The aiding staff started checking in all compartment at a time immediately as soon as train reached at the platform. And during search campaign took into possession as many as 24 children between the age 12 and 16 being taken to Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur in Punjab to work as bonded labourer in spinning and rubbrr mills.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a gang of nearly 20 persons is very active in human trafficking of children procuring children from Bihar and West Bengal since a long time and selling as bonded labourer to industries. A information further revealed that he gang is also active in human trafficking of teen girls from poor families in these states. Information further revealed that as many as 14 children were brought down from this train at Delhi railway station. All children were kept in different train coaches in the train but raiding team could rescue 24 children at Ambala Cantt railway station in different coaches, which included 13 children in last coach in the train and remaining from other coaches. However, the raiding team could not find any clue about the members of gang involved in human trafficking. The rescued children were brought to GRP police station Ambala Cantt and a zero FIR was registered. All rescued children were sent to open shelter house Ambala Cantt after medical examination at the civil hospital. Police could find the where about of five rescued cioldren and handed them over to their families.
Police has started search for the gang involved in human trafficking business since a long time earning handsome money in this business. Information further reveals that this was the 9th raid reported in Karambhumi Express train in past sometime, which include three reported in the months August, September during year 2021. During month March 2022, GRP Ambala Cantt during a raid had rescued 45 children in the trin which were brought from West Bengal for trafficking.
