AMBALA (Satish Handa): Out of total number of nearly 819 complaints regarding crimes against women registered at Women Police Station Ambala with effect from year 2015 so far, which included 33 complaints registered in 2015, 107 complaints registered in 2016, 182 complaints registered in 2017, 144 complaints registered in 2018, 127 complaints registered in 2019, 140 complaints registered in 2020 and 47 complaints registered till May 15 this year nearly 30% complaints were found fake during investigation as disclosed by Inspector Devinder Kaur in-charge police station.
In-charge women police station said, majority of cases were related to conflicts between husband and wife as well as their families over dowry and police tried its best for a compromise between the both. She told in case the matter does not resolved amicably after repeated trials, the cases are forwarded to the court after registering a case. She told that on an average district level women police station at Ambala usually gets 10 to 12 complaints regarding dowry every day and the number of such dowry cases is fast increasing since past few years. She said, there is a special cell in the police station making efforts to resolve such cases amicably in the presence of both parties and succeeds in settling between 40-50% cases..
Devinder Kaur told that apart from dowry cases, Women Police Station gets large number of cases related to sexual harassment, sexually molestation, rape and gang rape, child abuse and at times honey trap cases to extract money and such type of cases are fast increasing since past few years posing a challenge before police during investigation in these cases. Police officer told that earlier such type of complaints were made on telephone or through the family members of victims, but after opening of women police stations in every district in the state the victims now personally approach police station to lodge complaint and make statement of incident without hesitation before female police investigation officers.
Information reveals, during police investigation over 30% complaints are found fake during police investigation. As regard honey trap cases , it was observed that few rackets are involved in trapping innocent persons in such cases in alliance with females in order to extract money. In a recent case of honey trap against a reputed married doctor at Shahabad in Kurukshetra district the complaint was lodged with the police by a divorcee employee in the same hospital working since past couple of years when she willingly developed illicit relations with the doctor, prepared video and started blackmailing him demanding Rs 50 lakh and the deal was finalized at Rs 30 lakh when female emplyee was arrested by the police on the complaint of wife of the doctor’s wife while accepting Rs 2 lakh part payment from the doctor
