Tuberculosis (TB) is a highly infectious disease. According to Haryana Health Department information, during laboratory test of TB suspected patients at Bhiwani and Panchkula IGRA labs out of 5106 samples collected from suspected persons in eight districts: Bhiwani, Rohtak, Sirsa, Jind, Narnaul, Rewari, Fatehabad and Charkhi Dadri as many as 1192 samples were found failed, which were collected in past about 20 months with effect from July 2022 so far. During lab tests out of 2363 samples, 490 samples were found infectious in Bhiwani IGRA (Interferon Gamma Release) test laboratory in which out of 350 samples 240 were found infectious.
According to doctors, TB Igra Test is a screening test to detect disease caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria which adversely affects and damages lungs and other parts in the human body, and also needs TB preventive therapy to be given to all family members of the patient, since tuberculosis is a highly infectious disease. Haryana state government health department has started injecting BCG injections (TPT treatment) to both adults and children free of cost to avoid spread of disease, which have been effective for about 15 years.
Information reveals that in case of symptoms of this disease, get it checked immediately by sending samples tested at Bhiwani or Panchkula IGRA laboratories in the state free of cost, since private laboratories are usually charging between Rs 2000 to 3000 from patients for this test. The medicines are also being supplied free of cost to the patients suffering from TB in government hospitals. According to a health department spokesperson 514 village Panchayats in Haryana state have become TB free.
In a survey conducted by the state health department, it was found that 61 villages in Bhiwani, 27 villages in Sirsa, 7 villages in Rohtak, 35 villages in Fatehabad, 33 villages each in Jhajjar and Kurukshetra, 17 villages in Yamunanagar, 21 villages in Panipat, 19 villages in Jind, 45 villages in Karnal, 29 villages in Hisar, 20 villages in Kaithal and 44 villages in Ambala district were found TB free.
