The rising unemployment, crime against women and increasing drug addiction are among the major issues among voters in the state. This came to light when the Congress analysed the issues and suggestions submitted by people across the state to the party’s manifesto committee. According to senior Congress leaders, Haryana has become an army of unemployed youth where the state is ranking No. 1 in the country in unemployment. During poll promotion they say the ruling BJP government in the state has deceived the educated youth in the name of providing jobs, and set up the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam to ruin the future of educated youth by giving jobs on a contractual basis.
The Congress had also invited suggestions from the people about burning issues of their area concerned in the state in order to incorporate them in the party’s manifesto with a solution plan for the Assembly polls and work on these issues on priorities after coming to power in the state. The party also organised different gatherings for women, farmers, youths SCs, BCs, minorities, slum dwellers, educationists, industrialists, sports persons and elected representatives of panchayats and local bodies to know their issues and suggestions.
Congress’ Manifesto Committee head Geeta Bhukkal, also Jhajjar MLA and former Education Minister said Haryana has become an army of unemployed youth and the state was ranked No. 1 in the country in unemployment as the BJP government has worked to deceive educated youth in the name of providing jobs. It set up the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam to ruin the future of educated youth by giving jobs on contractual basis and that too through back-door entry, said a considerable number of educated youth have shared their pain with the Congress and preferred to leave the country ethically or unethically in past sometime in which many youths have been cheated or arrested while sent abroad on the basis of fake documents by the immigration agents, Sources reveal that large number of youths are presently lodged in jails in abroad and there is no whereabout of large number of such youths.
Bhukkal raised questions over frequent paper leaks, delay in announcing examination results, putting regular appointments on the back burner and making contractual recruitment without merit through middlemen. She said, unemployment is the root cause of pushing educated youth into illegal activities, drug smuggling, drug addiction and crime, especially crimes against women. She claimed that unemployment, under-employment were big issues that were disclosed by a large number of youth before Deepender Hooda wherever he took out a foot march under the ‘Haryana Maange Hisaab’ campaign. Among those joined this campaign to support the Congress were youths, she said.
Bhukkal said, the crime against women has become another major issue in the state as the law and order has badly collapsed under the BJP regime. Women are neither safe in public nor at work. On the one hand, our women are bringing laurels to the state by getting medals in the Olympics, whereas on the other hand, the NCRB report has described Haryana as one of the unsafe states for women as the BJP government has failed to ensure safety of women. Through emails, many women have recalled the then Hooda government when criminals left the state due to fear of being eliminated. She said the Congress manifesto committee is serious towards women safety, hence the issue is being taken on priority.
