Amritsar : Temporary/contractual employees of Punjab Roadways, Punbus and PRTC today went on a strike across the Punjab, demanding an increase in their monthly remuneration.

Bus services were crippled in the Majha region of Punjab on Monday, due to strike called by contractual employees of state transport undertakings (STUs) Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC), Punjab Roadways and Punbus.

The severe impact of the strike left the commuters left stranded at bus stands in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Batala and Gurdaspur districts of Punjab.

Heavy crowd of passengers were witnessed at Amritsar Railway station in the morning to avail train service to reach their destinations as most of the passengers were from the middle class who were unable to afford private taxis.
