The raids by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are underway in Jammu and Kashmir as part of an investigation into a terror funding case.
The raids are taking place at multiple locations in Pulwama and Shopian, as well as 13 other locations across Budgam, Shopian, Pulwama, Srinagar, and Anantnag.
The NIA is cracking down on proscribed terrorist outfits that are planning violent attacks in Jammu and Kashmir using sticky bombs, IEDs, and small arms.
The NIA has been targeting new terror groups such as The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir, Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind, Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, PAAF, and others.
These groups have taken responsibility for most of the militant attacks carried out in the last three years in the Pir Panjal area of Jammu.
The NIA’s crackdown comes after a deadly terror attack in Poonch that killed five soldiers, and an explosion caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the Rajouri district that killed five more Army personnel and injured an officer.
The NIA has attached properties belonging to three accused persons in Kashmir under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act following court orders.
