Three female workers sustained severe burns due to fire, explosion in ‘Mehndi’ factory

SIRSA:  A fire broke out with a loud explosion in a ‘Mehndi’ manufacturing factory in the name of Raghukul Khadi Gram Udyog in Killianwali near Dabwali (Sirsa) on Wednesday. Three female employees were severely burnt in the accident. They were rushed to AIIMS Bathinda for treatment. The cause of the explosion is suspected due to some object getting stuck in the boiler. A loud explosion occurred at around 2 pm in the ‘Mehndi’ mixing unit of the factory located in the Post Office lane near the bus stand. Among three sustained severe burn injuries were Sandeep Kaur (30), Rupa (25), a resident of Premnagar, Dabwali, and Sunita (35) originally a resident of Bihar presently living in Pind Luhara, all were working in the ‘Mehndi’ mixing unit at the time of the mishap, were badly injured. The explosion was so loud that its sound was heard far and wide. After the explosion, many people reached the factory. People broke the outer door of the mixing unit and took out the injured women and rushed them to Civil Hospital Dabwali in an ambulance, from where all stated serious were referred to AIIMS Bathinda. Information reveals that 18 female workers were present in the factory at the time of mishap and after taking meals they were resting in the packing unit itself.

Supervisor Gurpal Singh was sitting in the office and as soon as the blast occurred there was shouting and screaming. He rushed to the place of mishap, saw flames in the mixing unit and informed the Dabwali fire station, when the fire brigade team reached and controlled the fire. In the meantime DSP Jaspal Singh, Killianwali police station in-charge Karamjeet Kaur and Haryana police team also reached the spot. The blast was suspected to have occurred due to ‘mehndi’ getting stuck in the factory’s boiler. The real reason for the blast will be known only after the investigation. SMO of Civil Hospital Dabwali, Dr. Sukhwant Singh Hayer said that the injured woman Sandeep Kaur is having about 80 percent burnt, while the other two women sustained 60 percent burns. All three were referred to AIIMS Bathinda. The owner of the factory Gurpreet Singh Namdhari was not present at the time of mishap.
