Three highways in Haryana to ease traffic on GT Road known as highway to heaven

Automobile drivers as well as passengers travelling on GT Road between Delhi and Amritsar facing heavy traffic while travelling on this road now would find relief while driving on this route frequently having large number of road mishaps causing death as well as injuries to accident victims generally this GT Road is called as highway to heaven. Information reveals that Haryana state government with the assistance of central government has constructed three new highways: 135.6 km  long Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Express Way, 227 km long six lane  NH 152D highway joining Haryana-Delhi- Rajasthan from Narnaul bi-pass to Ambala and the third KGB Express Way joining Haryana with Delhi and Utter Pradesh via Kundli, Ghaziabad and Palwal and all these going to provide relief in traffic on this busy road known as National Highway No. 1 as well as highway to heaven also due to having maximum number of roadside illegal ‘dhaba’, encroachment by heavy vehicles parked on the roadside, repairs going on the road damaged at places, stray animals moving on the road in groups, large number of road cuts and complete darkness on the road during night.

Chief Minister Haryana Manohar Lal Khatter told media persons that the central government had approved construction of 17 new highways in Haryana state, of these construction of seven highways have been completed and construction work going on remaining 10 highways. According to NCRB recent report out of total 62 lakh kilometer road network in the country National Highways have 1.33 lakh kilometer long road in which 53615 persons were reported died in road mishaps during year 2021, whereas 39040 persons had lost their lives  in road mishaps on state highways during year 2021. In case of road accidents on Express Ways 62967 persons reported died in 1899 road mishaps during year 2021.

According to NCRB report, two-wheelers plying on roads cause maximum number of road accidents in the country in which maximum number of accident victims losing lives. According to available data 69240 persons were reported died on roads in two-wheeler accidents during year 2021 which include 44.5% share in total number of deaths due to road accidents in the country. Similarly, in case of number of accident victims succumbed to their injuries in case of car accidents during year in the country during year the number of deaths was recorded as 23531 which include 15.1% share in total number of deaths. In case of heavy vehicles like trucks and buses the total number of 14622 accident victims had lost their lives in 2021 having 9.14% share in deaths during the year.
