New Delhi-: Tiranga, the National Flag of India symbolizes the spirit of freedom and Unity. There is an emotional connection with Tricolor Tiranga, it remind us of India’s struggling days under British rule. The India National Flag represents Free India. It reminds us of our brave souls who gave up their lives so that India could fly high. Indian Flag was adapted in the meeting of the Constituent Assembly on 22 July 1947 days before India achieved independence. Designed by Pingali Venkayya, Indian Flag consist of three colors Saffron, White and Green which stands for courage, purity and prosperity respectively. Hubli located 420 km from Bengaluru is the only licensed organization that manufactures and supplies Flags.
Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan
India will celebrate 77 years of its Independence this 15th August. Ahead of this day preparations are in full swing around the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi have urged the citizens to participate in “ Har Ghar Tiranga” Movement and upload a photo with it between 13th and 15 August. The shops in the market are flooded with Flags of all sizes and everybody is purchasing the flag to hoist in their offices, shops, balconies and premises. Seeing the excitement of Tiranga in the hearts of the people, I spoke to various people of the society. Anuj Tiwari, a Shopkeeper in Noida said the demand of flag is at its peak since the Flag campaign has been launched. Last year also the sale of Flags increased 20% more than normal and this year also we run short of flags every day. Right from school, colleges, offices and homes everyone wants to put tricolor flag at their places, we have sold around 1500 flag in last one weak, says Satish Arora another shopkeeper in Delhi. Earlier I used to sell only 100-150 flags but now after the Tiranga campaign, the sale is increased, I have sold 2000 flags till now and sale is still on, says Meenu Sharma.
The feeling of patriotism rules the heart of every Indian irrespective of their caste, culture and religion. For an Urdu Poet Aziz Ahmed, Tiranga is love. When I asked him what Tiranga means to Him, he said” Marjaun kahin Bhi, wahin mujhko dafan kar dena, Mere watan ke tirange ko bas mera kafan kar dena”. A school teacher Anamika Sharma says, I have deep respect for Indian Flag, it gives me an immense pride to hoist flag in my balcony. For an Advocate Hilaluddin khan, Tiranga is always in his car, he does not need Independence day or Republic day to show respect for the Flag. For students of Delhi University Tiranga means Dignity and Bravery. The school children feel delighted to carry Flags to school to celebrate the national festival. Many organizations in Delhi have come forward and are distributing flags to street children. The Housing societies of Noida are also distributing Indian Flags to their residents for free. Kalpana Jhanjharia, a Vice president of an AOA in Noida says “I am asking residents to hoist the flag in their towers and balconies” it gives me immense pleasure to distribute Flags to everyone, she added.
Flag Code of India
As a part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, it is also important to understand the Flag Code of India. To make access to the National Flag easier for the people, the Flag Code of India was amended by the government in July 2022. It consists of set laws concerning the use, display and hoisting at Public or Private places. The amendments made by the government of India allowed the display of the Flag both day and Night and that too in the open, but earlier it was to be flown between sunrise and sunset.
Dos and Don’t of National Flag at Home
The tricolor on display should be placed distinctly.
A damaged Flag should never be displayed. The Flag should be proper condition.
The Tricolor should never be placed in inverted form, The saffron band should be at the top.
No Other object or symbol should be placed above the flag.
The Flag should not touch the ground or the floor or trail in water.
There should be no lettering on the flag.
How National flag should be disposed
There are two ways to dispose the damaged or weathered flag. As per the Flag code first is burning and second is burying the same. As per the code, when the flag is damaged it must be disposed respectfully preferably by burning or any other method maintaining the dignity of the flag.
The Tricolor Flag is a symbol of pride for every Indian. It represents national integrity and signifies the hopes and aspirations of Indian people.
