VB nabs Amritsar Improvement Trust JE, Clerk for taking Rs 50,000 bribe

Amritsar , February 26  – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) apprehended Jagjit Singh, Junior Engineer and Sanjiv Kumar, Sales Clerk, both posted at Amritsar Improvement Trust (AIT) while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.

Disclosing this here today SSP Amritsar Range Gursweak Singh Brar said the above-mentioned officials have been arrested on a complaint lodged by Inderjit Singh, Nava Kot,  Amritsar.

He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB range Amritsar and alleged that said officials were demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 in lieu of issuing no obligation certificate (NOC) regarding ownership of his plot at  Railway link road, Amritsar.

The spokesperson informed that after preliminary investigation of this complaint, a VB team from Amritsar range laid a trap in which JE Jagjit Singh and Clerk Sanjiv Kumar were nabbed red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered at VB police station Amritsar range and further investigation was under progress, he said.
